Global Tea Cultivation
Dec 24, 2025
Tea grows in more places than coffee, but with some clear concentration areas. China produces the most tea globally, followed by India. Kenya exports large quantities despite being much smaller geographically.
Turkey has really intensive tea cultivation along its Black Sea coast - they drink more tea per person than anywhere else. Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and Vietnam also grow significant amounts.
Tea adapts to different climates better than coffee. You see it in mountains, coastal areas, and various elevation zones. Each region tends to specialize - China does green tea and many varieties, India focuses on black tea, Kenya produces mostly black tea for export.
