Coffee Consumption Per Person by Country in 2023 and How It Changed Since 2010
Sep 6, 2026
This video maps annual coffee consumption per person by country in 2023, using FAOSTAT Food Balance Sheet data in kilograms per capita per year, then shows how that figure shifted from 2010 to 2023.
Laos leads at 22.59 kg (49.8 lbs) per person per year, up from 10.37 kg (22.9 lbs) in 2010. Ireland's per capita figure nearly tripled, from 5.98 kg (13.2 lbs) to 15.79 kg (34.8 lbs), part of a broader shift toward coffee visible in several traditionally tea drinking countries.
The United States, the largest market by total volume, actually declined slightly per person.
