To start, one card is randomly chosen from the draw pile. This card is put in the center of the table, date-side up, and makes the starting point of a historical line which will gradually be built outwards. On your turn, you will pick one of your cards and put it before or following the first card. Your card is then turned date-side up. If your assumption was correct, the card remains on the desk. Contrarily, the card is rejected, and a new card must be drawn to displace it. As more cards are played, it soon becomes more challenging to place new ones rightly.
