Across all devices, more than 90 percent of all internet searches occur through Google. Anders Sundell used Google Trends search data to reveal the most googled nations worldwide, from 2004 to 2022.
The arrows on the diagram below show which other country is most frequently googled by people in different nations.
For instance, an arrow from Japan to the United States means that people in Japan google the U.S. more than any other nation. Moreover, each nation’s circle is scaled relative to its search interest, meaning the more extensive the flag, the more countries searching for it.
Notice that no other nation had China as their top target even though this most populated country is the second-largest economy in the world. Unsurprisingly, the United States is the most searched nation. The U.S. is one of the most significant cultural influences worldwide and the world’s largest economy by nominal GDP.

He downloaded all available Google trends data on country topics (bundles of search terms) for most European nations. The flags show the most googled country that specific month.

This animated map clearly shows that the United States is the most culturally dominant country on our planet. In most European countries, the United States was the most googled nation from 2002 to 2020. The same can be said about the most googled persons.
Most googled countries and states in the U.S.
In the western regions of the United States most populated by Latin Americans, the most googled country is Mexico. On the opposite, searches for India appear to come mainly from the country’s eastern regions.

At the beginning 2000s, the United States held the most googled country in Asia, but at a later time, comparative searches for the United States decreased. India became the most searched nation in Asia for most of the 2010s.
