The map of Europe changed considerably after the WWI. Germany lost about 10 percent of its territory to its neighbors.
The war led to the fall of monarchies in Germany, Russia, Austria-Hungary, Russia, and the Ottoman Empire. The older and new nations were incapable to establish a stable political system. Explode territorial disputes were increased by boundary disputes, as the borders of such countries as Poland, Czechoslovakia, Serbia, and Croatia.
