The first commercial nuclear power station Calder Hall at Windscale (England), started operation in 1956 with a capacity 200 MW total.
Now nuclear energy produces about 11 percent of the world’s electricity from about 450 power reactors.
In 2017 nuclear plants produced 2487 TWh of electricity.
