Bunny is just down the road from me but it’s nothing to do with rabbits. It was originally Bune eg pronounced boonuh ague, meaning reed island. I was brought up in Oxfordshire and have a sneaking suspicion my brother played against a Marsh Gibbon boys football team.
In the 1960s Gunter Less pronounced the Welsh village above (64 characters I believe) perfectly with his Swiss accent for his show “Journey to Adventure.” Super hilarious. The unpronounceable with a Swiss accent.
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch is not something you name a town, that is what happens when a cat takes a nap on your keyboard
How can this list exist without the great Cockfosters in north London – it gets all the tourists laughing ?
I am surprised No Place (Co. Durham) doesn’t get a mention.
Great map. England has thousands of funnily named places, which I use when I’m naming towns in sim city 4.
