What happens when AI picks the stereotype for every state?
Same job, different author. The map by u/Philipp gives Iowa and Nebraska CORN, North Dakota and Alaska COLD, and Massachusetts SNOBS. Eleven labels point to food or drink, so the AI seems to travel hungry.
Which stereotypes survive a fact-check?
Montana gets EMPTY and does have only 7.86 people per square mile (3.03 per square kilometer). Alaska (1.29, or 0.50 per square kilometer) and Wyoming (6.06, or 2.34) are emptier, so Montana takes the bronze.
Kansas gets FLAT. A 2003 paper scored Kansas at 0.9997 on a flatness scale where 1 is perfect, against 0.957 for a pancake. A later terrain study ranked Kansas only seventh and found that Florida has the most flat land. The AI map calls Florida CRAZY.
Kentucky gets BOURBON and brags that it makes 95 percent of the world’s supply. That number comes from the Kentucky Distillers’ Association, it dates back to 2003 or 2009, and one whiskey writer puts the real share at no more than about 75 percent.
Hawaii gets EXPENSIVE, and the electricity bill agrees. Residential power averages 52.72 cents per kilowatt-hour, 187 percent above the national average of 18.34.
Idaho gets POTATOES and earns it. The state grows nearly a third of US potatoes.
