In the months before the German invasion of the Soviet Union the German leaders discussed many plans for the future of their conquered territories The vision of Germany being able to obtain a most limitless grain from Ukraine oil from the Caucasus raw materials from the Urals and coal and cotton from Turkestan stimulated German territorial speculation This map shows one such plan drawn up by the Nazi ideologist Alfred Rosenberg in May 1941.
