As of 1000 BC, the world was a vastly different place compared to today. This period is often referred to as the Late Bronze Age or the Iron Age, depending on the region and the technological advancements present.

The map below shows the state of the world around 1000 BC.

Around 1000 BC, Egypt was experiencing the Third Intermediate Period. The New Kingdom had come to an end, and the country was politically fragmented, with competing dynasties ruling different regions.

In the region known as Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq and parts of Iran, Syria, and Turkey), the Neo-Assyrian Empire was emerging as a dominant power, while the Babylonian Empire was also growing in influence.

The Shang Dynasty was ruling over much of ancient China during this period, and they were known for their advancements in bronze technology and oracle bone script.

Around 1000 BC, the Vedic period was flourishing in the Indian subcontinent. The Rigveda, one of the oldest sacred texts of Hinduism, was composed during this time.

In Greece, the Mycenaean civilization was in decline, leading to the Greek Dark Ages, characterized by a decrease in written records and cultural development.

The ancient Israelites were establishing their kingdoms and tribes in the Levant, and the United Monarchy under Kings David and Solomon was believed to have existed during this time.

The region of Persia (modern-day Iran) was inhabited by several different cultures and tribes, and the emergence of the Persian Empire was still centuries away.

In the Americas, several advanced civilizations were thriving, such as the Olmec civilization in Mesoamerica and the Chavín culture in the Andean region.

Several ancient African civilizations were flourishing, including the Kingdom of Kush, which was an important power in the Nile Valley.

Europe during this period was home to various tribal and proto-urban societies, with notable civilizations such as the Celts, Etruscans, and Phoenicians.
