Rave Reviews compiled a list of the most highly ranked movies created in every nation and made the world map of best movies. The Rave Reviews team identified cinemas created in every nation using IMDb country codes and then chose the top-rated title from the top fifty movies ranked by the highest number of users.
The Shawshank Redemption is the most top-rated movie in the world with over a million votes, topping the IMDb’s Top 250 with a ratio of 9.3.

“The Shawshank Redemption” is the top-rated film created on the continent, and with over a million votes is also the movie that inspired the most people to leave a score.

South America
In South America movie “Far from Home: Venezuelan Exodus” (“Lejos de Casa: Exodo Venezolano”) about the Venezuelan diaspora during the Venezuela crisis is the top movie with a rating of 9.5, but only 177 votes, perhaps as it was only released in 2020. The city of God is the most well-known movie on the continent, with almost 700k ratings. Argentina’s crime drama, “The Secret in Their Eyes,” was noted as one of the 21st century’s 100 best cinemas by the BBC and has been recreated by Hollywood.

Europe
The top-rated film to come out of the United Kingdom was Christopher Nolan’s “The Prestige”, rated 8.5 on IMDb. This story of magic and betrayal also has the highest number of Europe ratings, with over a million users chiming in.

The Middle East and Central Asia
“The Chaos Class” (“Hababam Sınıfı”) is a Turkish comedy directed by Ertem Egilmez, based on a novel by Rifat Ilgas. It has an IMDb score of 9.3 and is the highest-rated movie produced in the region. Lebanese drama “Capernaum” is the most well-known movie here, with over 60 k votes on IMDb.

Africa
Alien science fiction action blockbuster “District 9” is the most well-known movie produced in Africa, with over 600k people leaving a vote. “Heliopolis,” tells the story of the Guelma massacre in 1945. The Algerian drama is the highest-rated movie produced in Africa, with a score of 9.5.

Rest of Asia and Oceania
The most highly ranked film in the region is “Life: Amidral” from Mongolia. It’s still relatively unknown, though, with only 80 votes. The most famous title to be made in this region is “The Return of the King”, inspiring over 1.6 million people to leave a score.
