GDP at market prices in the European Union was estimated at EUR 15.9 trillion in 2018 ($18.2 trillion), equal to an average of EUR 30 900 per person ($35 358 per person). For comparison, the GDP of the United States is $18.4 trillion ($21 trillion), equivalent to an average of EUR 56 803 per person ($65 000 per person).

Luxembourg GDP per resident was 2.5 times as high as the European Union average. The Southern area of Ireland’s GDP per resident was 2.2 times as high as the European Union average.
