Many aspects, from socioeconomic determinants to culture to climate and behaviors, can influence life expectancy.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Americans are expected to live an average of 78.7 years in 2020, down from 78.9 years in 2014. Women were more expected to outlive men by 5 years nationwide.
Live expectancy is not evenly distributed across the country. The U.S. states in the South did worse when contrasted with their Northeastern and Western analogs.
Hawaii has the highest average life expectancy at 81 years, followed by California, New York, Minnesota, Connecticut.
