Reddit user BasedMaps amazing maps showing, how the face of our planet will change if sea-level drop or rise by 1000 meters.

The first two maps show what does our planet looks like if sea levels were to rise by one kilometer, how much of the Earth’s surface would still be above water.

Obviously, even if all the ice on our planet melted the sea level would only increase by 70 meters or 100 meters. The maps above are just a bit of fiction.

The world maps with one-kilometer sea level drop more realistic.

If our planet’s magnetic field disappeared, the atmosphere to be blown out into space. When atmospheric pressure descends low enough, water will start to evaporate taken by the solar wind.

As a result, the surface of our planet will resemble the surface of Mars.

The map above looks like a political map of the world, including Exclusive Economic Zones, or or map of Pangaea with current International borders.

How does our planet look like if the oceans are drained, you can see here.

To demonstrate the difference that a 1,000 meter DROP would make, an INTELLIGENT person would highlight the OCEANS – NOT the land-masses, like YOU did. So why not show it again, so WE could actually COMPREHEND what an ocean drop would show look like. WHILE you are at it, drop it another 1,000 meters, or would that SHOW TOO MUCH?

That’s not a “highlight”, btw. The lighter shades of blue are shallower parts of the ocean; this is true on a regular map that shows oceans, too. The reason there is a blue outline of the continents is because, naturally, those parts of the ocean would be more shallow than the surrounding, pre-existing ocean (which is now even deeper than before).

It shouldn’t need to be said, the brown parts are land, the blue is water. The light blue in the shape of the continents could be understood as being new continental shelves. The brown areas inland, which correspond to real-life mountain ranges, would constitute the new landmasses.

The maps are really not difficult to understand. I repeat, the brown parts are land, the blue parts are water.

What projection does this use? I could really use a normal political map to overlay if anyone has one, but idk
