The world population has reached 8 billion people as of November 2022 and is still growing. Population size varies at differing rates in different regions. The maps below show different ways of dividing the Earth, continents, and countries into areas of equal population.
World
95% of the global population is concentrated on just 10 percent of the world’s land. Half the world’s population lives in 7 nations: China, India, the United States, Indonesia, Brazil, Pakistan, and Nigeria.

The world map below illustrates population density by latitude. It is noticed that the population becomes more concentrated nearer to the equator.

North America
The largest concentration of people in the Western Hemisphere is in the Northeastern U.S. and South Eastern Canada. About 150 million people reside in this region.
United States

Below is another map that shows how uneven the population of the United States distributed is. On this map, orange and red areas have equal populations.

South America
The highest population densities in South America are found in the old Indian core regions of the Andes, the former slave territories of northeastern Brazil, and the places of European immigration in southern Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina.

Africa
In general, in Africa, the most densely populated territories are found surrounding the lakes, in the river basins (notably those of the Nile and Niger), along the shore belts of western and North Africa, and in specific highland regions, while settlement is the most sparse in the desert and savanna regions.

Australia and New Zealand
The proportion of the Australian population that dwelled in New South Wales amounted to 31.8%. Victoria and Queensland were also in the top three Australian states by population.

A significant 86.1% of people living in New Zealand reside either in or near a major city. The two largest cities of New Zealand (Auckland and Wellington) are located on the North Island.

Interesting.
