The safest seven neighborhoods by this measure are all contiguous in
Staten Island and are all fairly low density. It’s also interesting to
see that Midtown-Midtown South is ranked 1st overall. This is likely
due to the low number of residents in that area compared to the number
of people, since each crime rate here is normalized by the population
size of the neighborhood.
