According to the United Nations’ World Population Prospects, the global population is forecast to reach 8.5 billion by 2030. More than one in every three people on our planet will live in India or China.
India will become the world’s most populous country, more likely in 2023, surpassing China.
India’s population will rise to 1.51 billion in 2030 from 1.44 billion in 2020. China’s population is predicted to fall slightly from 1.44 billion to 1.42 billion over the same period.
These countries’ populations remain considerably ahead of all other nations.

While the UK population is projected will grow by 2.1 million, from 60 million in 2020 to 69.2 million in the decade to 2030.
