Better Life Index (2016) allows you to compare well-being across countries, based on 11 topics the OECD has identified as essential, in the areas of material living conditions and quality of life.
More than 100 000 users of the Better Life Index around the world have shared their views on what makes for a better life. The interactive map below shows user information and well-being preferences by country or territory, each represented by a colored dot on the map. The color indicates the highest-rated topic in that country and the size of the dot indicates the relative number of responses. All countries and territories have been displayed, irrespective of the number of user responses. When a country is selected, a popup will appear to show how users ranked the well-being topics from lowest to highest. The number of responses is provided as well as a breakdown of users by gender and age. It is also possible to compare the average topic ranking in the selected country with that of users in another country.
