Short and long scale usage throughout the world
Depending on the nations, various ways are used to form the names of big numbers: the long numeric scale and the short numeric scale.
In the long scale, every new word greater than a million is one million times bigger than the previous term (the digits are grouped by 6). In the short scale, every new word greater than a million is one thousand times bigger than the previous term (the digits are grouped by 3).
